Council of Regional Cancer Coalitions of Georgia
Our Cancer Coalition actively participates in the Council of Regional Cancer Coalitions of Georgia (C-RCCG). The Council is comprised of leaders from the six Regional Coalitions, including Central Georgia Cancer Coalition, East Georgia Cancer Coalition, Northwest Georgia Cancer Coalition, Southeast Georgia Cancer Alliance, Southwest Georgia Cancer Coalition, and West Central Georgia Cancer Coalition. The Council's purpose is to promote collaboration, identify and disseminate best practices and present a unified voice for common interests across the state. Through monthly meetings and an Annual Retreat, Council members communicate regularly with one another as well as with key statewide partners such as the Georgia Cancer Coalition (GCC), the Georgia Department of Community Health, and the Georgia Department of Human Resources.
Currently, the Council is working collaboratively on a statewide project with Dr. Joe Lipscomb, Emory University professor and GCC Scholar. Through the Regional Coalitions' relationships with local cancer centers, we are conducting a statewide Quality of Care metrics demonstration project sponsored by the American College of Surgeons Commission on Cancer. John D. Archbold Memorial Hospital is the first alpha site in Southwest Georgia, to be followed by the region's other three cancer centers in 2009-2010.
At the request of Governor Perdue, the Council annually submits a detailed Report to the Governor demonstrating the Regional Coalitions' measurable outcomes and return on investment of state funds.
Dr. Jim Hotz, Diane Fletcher and Mandy Flynn represent our Coalition as Council members, with Ms. Fletcher serving as vice-president and Dr. Hotz serving as past Council President. Other Coalition staff members participate from time to time in Council initiatives.
