Disparities Center Director, Denise Ballard represents the Coalition on this statewide effort to establish core competencies and standards for training and certifying Community Health Workers (CHWs). CHWs work to improve the condition of communities suffering from health disparities. The committee's ultimate goal is to advance the role of CHWs as a recognized profession, leading to third-party payor reimbursement for CHW services such as screening recruitment, health education, patient navigation, and other health related services.
