Biographical Sketch
Karen Glanz,
Professor in the Department of Behavioral Sciences and Health Education at the Rollins School of Public Health at Emory University. Dr Glanz is Director of the Emory Prevention Research Center. She joined the faculty at Emory in 2004 and was designated as a GCC Distinguished Research Scholar. A hallmark of her career over the past 25 years has been a commitment to translating research into practice, and conducting research with promising applications to improve public health. Dr. Glanz’ research emphasizes modifiable risk behaviors (especially dietary behavior), early cancer detection, social and health policy, and the environmental and social contexts that shape health behavior. While at the University of Hawaii’s Cancer Research Center (1993-2004), she developed the Community-Based Health Research Group, which became the Social & Behavioral Sciences Program. In addition to her role as EPRC Director, Dr. Glanz co-leads the EPRC’s Research Core.
